How to refresh my bedroom without investing a fortune?
Okay - here goes: strip. The bedroom, not you! Take out all the accessories and general ‘stuff’ that’s cluttering up your space and put it in on the landing. Work out what you love and what you don’t love. I did this recently and discovered hair products dating back to 2009 which had never been opened. Look at the space with fresh eyes.
Get out your paintbrush. If you fancy a colour change, do it. That might be one wall, all walls, maybe even just the woodwork (a pop of colour or a dark neutral can make the nice features stand out).
Look at your furniture. Old pine chest of drawers or side tables that are practical but not pretty? Sand it down, change the handles, even paint it if you feel like it. The same applies to wardrobes - mine were boring so I wallpapered the doors and added handles I picked up in the sale at Anthropologie (an excellent place for handles in the sale, btw - super good value).
Up your textile game. Invest in a new duvet set or shop your home for cushions and throws. Changing the fabrics in the room can give it a completely different look and if your room is neutral, it can update the whole colour scheme.
Add the luxe factor. Your bedroom is your sanctuary, so restyle your space to create focal points and features. Use candles and scent to bring a welcoming ambience - due to working with them, I have recently discovered the most delicious Deep Relax Spray Mist from Aromatherapy Associates which I spray liberally (mostly over Joe) before I get into bed. It’s the little things that make the difference.
